In our “Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS” video series, we provide easy-to-understand information about HIV, sexually transmitted infections and hepatitis.

When HIV enters our body – for example during sex or drug use – the virus mainly attacks the cells of our immune system. In this video, we explain in more detail what HIV does inside the body:

Video 3: “How is HIV transmitted?”

HIV is relatively difficult to transmit, much more difficult than flu, measles or other sexually transmitted infections. In everyday interactions, there is no risk of transmission at all. In this video, we explain how HIV can and cannot be transmitted:

  • In what situations can HIV be transmitted and in what situations can it not be transmitted? 
  • What does it depend on whether transmission is possible at all?
  • What needs to be considered in what situations (in everyday life, during sex, when using drugs or when trying for a baby)?
